NEWSLETTER : JULY 2009

We would like to announce recent developments relating to our professional staff:

David Asherson, who is well known in the legal industry, joined us as an Associate in January of this year. He brings with him a wealth of legal and commercial knowledge and experience. David has practiced as an attorney in corporate and commercial law for 27 years during which time he was a partner at Shepstone and Wylie, and served as the president of the Natal Law Society and the Association of Law Societies in South Africa, respectively. David left Shepstone and Wylie to join Robertsons Holdings (Pty) Ltd where he held the position of Group Commercial Director. David currently holds a directorship with Edward, Snell and Co. Ltd.

Lauren Kelso, who joined us in 2007 as a Candidate Attorney, completed her articles in March this year and is now an Associate with the firm. Kirsty Ridley joined us this month as a Candidate Attorney. Kirsty was previously lecturing at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. We look forward to working with her.

Kereisa Nyawo, a former Associate with the firm, was offered and accepted a position with Rainbow Farms in June 2009. We thank Kay for her time spent with us, and wish her all the best for the future.

IN MEMORIAM : JEREMY YEATS

Jeremy was admitted as an attorney on April 1965 and as a Notary Public on the 9th February 1966. After completing his articles of clerkship and admission as an attorney, he joined the firm of J. C. Cox and became a founder partner of the firm Cox Yeats on 1 March 1967.

Jeremy retired from Cox Yeats in the latter part of 1995 and thereafter conducted practice for his own account. In January 2000 Jeremy joined our firm as a Consultant who brought with him a wealth of knowledge and experience.

Jeremy sadly passed away on the 25th of August 2008. He will be sorely missed.
